this is going to seem like a random comment, but i do this sometimes when i mail smaller items out. if you cut out a space in a piece of corregated(sp?) cardboard that is cut to fit the envie and place the item/s in the center - it keeps it one even size, so you can mail out with one stamp. i used to post seed packets that way. it kept them from getting damaged and it kept the even thickness. might work for you. :) of course, it might be a hassle to do it alot, but it gets expensive paying for free shipping all the time!
