.I don't know about the Wi Fi for free my new lappy has all wireless built in so I had no need for it. I did have Verizon when I used it. There may be a diff driver or something somewhere, but I can't say yes or no.

I got it from verizon when I used there wireless service. I have no idea weather you have to have a plan to use it.
