just the right size to hold chapstick or some money and can be tied onto your jacket zipper so you can get to it whenever you need it while skiingthese would be a little difficult for small children to get open so i'd say they are better for someone with stronger hands. (my husband had to open mine for me but i was still glad that i didn't have to take off snow gear just to buy some hot choclate!)
