This cup is absolutly stunning . from the form to the raised decoration . i have never seen one like it any where. most resorces i have looked at start the mustache cup around the 1820s . i honestly believe this one predates those .the reasons being 1 the form. this cup sits lower and the mouth is wider ,than any iv seen anywhere. 2.i believe it is stoneware look at the last pic. shows the material it is made of. looks like stoneware to me . although in the 1820s they made stoneware cups , they did nt have this form. this cup is heavily enameled so muchso as it obscurs the impressed mark, on the bottom . all the decoration u see on the cup is raised by a process of layer after layer of the enameling a very time consuming process. the cup does have 3 lil losses of the enameling. 2 on the rim. and, 1 on the handle. they look like flea bites but it is loss of the thick enameling look at pic 5 and 6 for that. it also has crazing, but u really cant see it with the naked eye, i had too use my looking glass to see it. the cup measures only 2 inches tall but 4 inches at the rim, in diameter and 2 inches on the bottom, in diameter this was a great find when i found it. and it would be a great find, for anyone to posess it . you will not find one like it again . iv looked for 15 years for one like it and no such luck . well good luck bidding ,and free shiping
