Are you able to download ebooks from the library on this? Or do you have to have wifi and purchase books?

Yes theres a Barnes & Nobles library. Once the books are downloaded you do not need wifi to read them. They will be stored in it. If u do not have wifi you can always go to a starbucks or somewhere with wifi and download your books than once you get home you will have um.

No backlight. Barnes and noble made lights that you have to buy seperatly for reading in dark. They are made just for the nook. Kinda like those clip on lights. Makes no sense. U would think they would have a backlight for people that read in dark. Its all a money scheme to try and get you to buy something else.
