Description

The listing, Malaysia Bank Negara 10 Ringgits has ended.

Banknote is circulated, with crinkling and wrinkling from use. It is actual note pictured here, so look closely. As is.

Bank Negara, Malaysia, is the Central Bank for issue of all Malaysian currency notes, and coins. In June 1967, the Malaysian ringgit/sen, issued by the Bank replaced the existing currency in all its denominations.

On the front is a portrait of Tuanku Abdul Rahman (1903-1990), this country’s first prime minister and foreign minister after it gained its independence, continuing in that post when the federation of Malaysia was formed in 1963.

Malaysia doesn't use paper money anymore. Their new banknotes are made of a polymer plastic which is the same size and has a similar appearance. Lots of other countries like Australia, Romania, Bangladesh, Northern Ireland, and even Canada have introduced these polymer banknotes. They're very durable and nearly impossible to coounterfeit!

How interesting. Guess that's why they don't have tears in them. I noticed they also use what I would call a hologram on some of the notes - I guess to further make them hard to copy.

Yes, some of them have holograms and are very hard for counterfeiters to duplicate. Many of them have clear "windows" in them, too. They can't be torn (I tried to tear one of them once, and all I could do was to warp it). They last a lot longer than paper, too. Which makes them very economical in the long run.
