You Never Can Tell: Heather Reardon is a writer on a mission. She is searching for Kole Kills Crow, a Lakota fugitive with a story to tell. Years ago, Kole was an activist for the Native American cause, trying to make things better for his people. But he dropped out of sight after the death of his wife and his escape from prison. After Heather discovers Kole in a northern Minnesota bar, her life is forever changed. For she follows the hero of her dreams to his cabin where she begins to know him as the man shaped by the hardships he has endured. Heather and Kole embark on a cross-country journey to other reservations, gathering supporters for their journey to Hollywood, where they plan to make a stand against the bias of the entertainment industry against Native Americans. Heather struggles to keep her personal attraction for Kole separate from her desire to write his story. And Kole tries to prevent an emotional attraction to Heather, a white woman who has put a dent in his hardened heart. Their relationship goes very deep, first beginning as purely physical, but gradually changing into an enduring ability to trust each other even in adverse circumstances. At the Corner of Love and Heartache: In Valentine, Oklahoma, Marilee James wonders if she lost her mind accepting relatively new Valentine Voice editor and her boss Tate Halloway's proposal. Marilee also mothers her abandoned niece Corrine. Still Tate is a nice guy and Marilee likes being with him and thinks she loves him, but has doubts about a lifetime. Stuart has followed the Voice as much as possible because he has never forgotten Marilee. Now he comes to Valentine to see the woman he let get away for the first time in two years. His charisma makes Marilee wonder if she is marrying the wrong man as the steady but kind Tate seems pale in comparison.

The Diary of V: An irresistible romp, reading this is like eating a box of Godiva chocolate truffles in one sitting. You may feel a bit guilty afterwards! Our heroine is a lust-filled married woman with a cold, cold husband. Poor dear, she turns to the muscular and handsome gardener (yes, the gardener) who tends the plants at her office. Shades of Lady Chatterley! There are plenty of "naughty bits" though nothing outright pornographic. The protagonist is a therapist but seems to have her own anger control issues. Almost every discussion with her husband ends with her throwing something.... Not that we blame her: As the story goes on, the husband turns out to be a dirty rotten cheating scoundrel. On top of that, there are office politics, scandals and rivalries. Everything is over the top and not very believable, but fun. Oh, and beware -- the ending is a cliff-hanger, so you feel compelled to get the next book in the series.
