To anyone out there who is interested in this Hummel. I have 4 of these, I have had them checked out the best I could, and was told they are real. I have given you all markings o n this item. . Alot of these were the same type like the boy with the violin, could have been made several times in years, or the one I own, a child with a toothache, but they are real. For someone to say they don't know alot about Hummels, and use the word forged, and say it could be older than I think, really, should ask me first, about my information. This was purchased from a reputable dealer. You can tell which one's are old, just by looking at them and markings.
If you have any concerns please check it out, or ask me. Thanks!!

I went to the website, that this person provided, the markings on the bottom are perfect with the Hummel Goebel, made in the 1990's, Therefore, were I put I believe it was made in 1984 because those numbers are also on the bottom, is wrong. On the bottom is: Goebel with a little circle next to the G, Germany under Goeble, and a little behive under Germany. In black is g96, etched is 1984, and 2 4/0 19. I hope this helps you.

I don't know a LOT about Hummels, but I do know they are a popular item that is forged. It could possibly be older than you think - unless someone was trying to make a forgery that looked real with the signature.... here's a link that may help you with identifying the age of it: http://www.theprudentcollector.com/hummel_marks.html

Awesome auction!
