Velvet 'N Lace is also one of the most fragrant! The fully double blooms are stacked several layers high, displaying their lacy white edges and rich, deep red (nearly black) petals to full effect on neat, carefree 12-inch plants. They bloom all summer, perfuming the air with a clove-like aroma. For best effect, plant them near a door or walkway--or in patio containers for up-close enjoyment!
Start seeds indoors in late winter or in the garden after danger of frost. Dianthus likes full sun and well-drained, gritty soil.
