Sacagawea Golden Dollar First Day Coin Cover
With the release of the Sacagawea Dollar First Day Coin Cover, the United States Mint expanded the newly introduced product type. Previously, the first day covers had only been offered for the 50 State Quarters Program releases.

The new covers featured one so-called “golden dollar” sourced from the first day of mintage. The colorfully illustrated envelope contained a stamp and postmark from the first day of issue, January 1, 2000. The maximum product limit for the covers was set at 200,000 with an offering price of $19.95 each. Sales officially began on the US Mint’s website on February 28, 2000.
