The listing, Vintage Decorative Wooden Box With Hand Painted Nautical Scene has ended.

What a curious little object!! This is a small wooden box that was made in Japan most likely in the 1950's-60's. It features a boat with two little sailors on the box lid. The lid slides to the side for removal. This box measures 3" long and 1.25" wide and approx. 2" tall. It is stamped Made in Japan on the bottom.

May I ask, where did you get this? What makes you think it is from the 50's or 60's?

I purchased a big box of items at an estate sale and just about every thing in the box was from the 50's and 60's. I would be really, really surprised if this was later than the 60's. You can just tell by looking at the sailor's painted faces.

BTW, out of curiosity ... what date are you thinking?

well if it is WWII then it would be from the 40s If not maybe late 60's . Most likely no 50's

I have not thought about it being from the 40's but that's a possibility too. It's old!!
