I just went with the specs listed on the drive itself. Thats why I listed the Model #, so anyone could search if they wanted more in-depth info on it. =P
so does this do that without the programs ? i try to burn stuff but it never lets me so im trying to find a machine to do it so i can rent from redbox and burn them
You can't do that unless you purchase a legal DVD ripping program. DVD movies are encoded with two special files, one for audio, the other video. You can rip any DVD with any drive this way, but you must have a legal program to do so. "Free" versions that are floating out there result in terrible copy's.
In a nut shell, you will always need programs to rip, burn, or any other task you want the drive to do. The programs are needed to tell the drive what to do, and how to do it.
