I'm not all that in computer knowledge, I wanted to ask if this can turn a windows me into windows xp? Thank you!! = )

NO
It will NOT upgrade your current Windows ME to Windows XP and keep your settings documents etc...

YES however ...
It WILL allow you to install Windows XP MCE on your existing PC that has ME on it BUT
ONLY as a NEW and complete XP install you would of course lose existing information when it formatted the drive and Loaded a fresh copy of XP over the top
of your old hard drives information

Then again this could be a good thing <Smile>
XP is a wonderful Operating system and has drivers for just about anything out there.
If you first backed up your documents pictures etc first you can always reinstall them after it has loaded windows XP

The COA says 2005, not 2008. Windows XP media center 2008 doesn't exist.

YES 2005 ! Old eyes ain't what they used to be. ...the Photos are accurate to this product identification If I am correct once an Operating system is installed you can simply upgrade to whatever is current on Microsoft's website...with that said this is \
a copy of XP Media Center Edition check if Microsoft supports this still they dropped some of XP support ........... It is what it is Media Center Edition from days gone by New in its box.

This edition of Windows XP was designed for media center pc's these machine actually came with a remote :)
Feb 25th, 2013 at 6:41:29 PM PST by
Original
Yes He's right ...Media center remote functions are indeed supported by this operating system
I have added Windows remote and IR to USB device to PCs I was using as media centers in the past as well just plug in to USB and it does the rest plug and play
You can even find these remotes and usb hardware on ebay for like 10-15 bucks if your machine does not have one....BTW My laptop has a mini remote that slides out the side for Media Center ....pretty cool design ...Thanks for the Input Kevin and good luck

Not sure what your asking exactly "all usual pc functions" It is a fully functional operating system complete with additional features like Media Center it is Windows XP
I have a Gateway PC uses Windows XP Media Center I use it daily as my television and internet browser It has an installed tuner card for selecting channels it works as a DVR recording my favorite shows via Media Center. It is the operating system needed for building a media center PC ..Windows XP is being phased out for Windows 7 and Windows 8 ...You cant as I know it buy a Windows PC with XP or XP Media Center now. It is an older operating system but a brand new copy that will work fine loaded onto a computer system.
From microsoft.com ................Support for Windows XP is ending on April 8, 2014. If you're running this version after support ends, you won't get security updates for Windows. So Microsoft will no longer support XP it is reaching the end of its product line according to Microsoft. With that said Windows 98 has long been unsupported and i also have a PC running this and it still works just fine.
Its something the PC industry calls Forced Obsolescence. Kinda like a video disc player or VHS when DVD and now Blu Ray arrived on the scene. They still play videos but good luck buying a new VHS tape or player at best buy...I hope you understand this explanation on Windows XP being no longer supported after April of next year 2014.

jltd5555@gmail.com lloyd here happy to help.
im interr in a repair disk /os thts easy for a novice to run n operate day to day w/o masters in doss!! as iv lost my os disk somehow. uggg! just need be sure it wont be similar to the vista system ?? cant deal w/that and need be rather easy to operate it. will it be simple to operate by beginner?? f&w i need a repair disk for complete reinstall. is this a easy system to run or is it a nightmare like vista was to me. lol i cant handle a unreal complex,un-user friendly system as im not verry good on pc yet.

Lloyd, Each Operating System would need a bootable install disk for repairing that specific operating system as this is for Windows XP MCE it would load Windows XP recovery console for repair which is command based. It will also do an in place upgrade on a system and replace the OS found with Windows Xp MCE

XP and vista are quite different in my opinion Windows XP was the best operating system ever made but it is not supported by Microsoft any longer
I would also suggest Craigslist locally to find PC repair guys they are on the gig section and of course they can see it in person hands on...

It is " Windows XP " Windows XP Media Center was an Optional build that included the Green Button Features (It can also be installed without MCE options as Windows XP Pro Sp2) Quite similar to Win vista and Win 7 have now.

Its an Operating System. As such it can be loaded on any PC based machine Either for a Laptop or a Desktop. XP buildsets had drivers for most PC hardware and manufacturers often have any unusual drivers available for download such as tuner card drivers or fingerprint devices specific to that machine
