Description

The listing, 1969 Topps baseball card lot w/ Luis Tiant LL has ended.

Here's a lot of eight (8) vintage 1969 Topps baseball cards (NOT reprints). Please note this is a lower-grade condition lot, with all cards having creases and/or other issues. But then again, these cards are 44 years old. Neat bit of history, but if you're picky about condition, this is not the auction for you.

AL Strikeout Leaders with SAM McDOWELL, DENNY McLAIN, & LUIS TIANT. All 3 had some amazing years, but the fiery Tiant is probably best remembered today, with 229 wins in a 19-year career.

Reds Rookie Stars STEVE MINGORI & JOSE PENA. Mingori pitched throughout the 70s, with a fine career ERA of 3.03. Peña was a star in the Mexican League, but never did much in the majors.

LARRY DIERKER (P, Astros) was an All-Star twice ('69 & '71) and was Houston's 1st ever 20 game winner. He later had success managing the club.

HAL LANIER (SS, Giants) made the 1964 Topps All-Star Rookie Team, and later won the NL Manager of the Year Award in '86.

RON KLINE (P, Pirates) is the only pitcher to defeat all of the Brooklyn Dodgers, the LA Dodgers, the NY Giants, the SF Giants, the NY Yankees and the NY Mets during regular season games. Led AL in saves in 1965.

BOBBY KLAUS (IF, Padres) never did much noteworthy besides backup Pete Rose in '64. Oddly, his final MLB appearance was in 1965, yet he somehow got a card in this set.

GENE ALLEY (SS, Pirates) played his 11-year career all with Pittsburgh, winning a couple Gold Gloves and All-Star appearances. Member of their championship team of 1971.

JIM CAMPANIS (C, Royals) was a backup for 6 years. He's obviously in a Dodgers uniform on this card, but had just been drafted by Kansas City.
