Yes, if you already have a line connected to your phone, you unplug that and plug in the unit instead. Then you connect the unit to the power supply and phone wall jack.

Ohh ok, I couldn't remember how it was done exactly, it's been so long since we had a separate caller ID. I assume it's the same concept if I have phone svc through cable co. and a router ? I don't have a clue, cuz hadn't had phone thru cable but a year or little over. Thank you for that information as well. : )

Never mind, just called the cable company, and since this older phone doesn't have a place to plug it into, then it wouldn't work. I was afraid of that, That caller ID you have is Nice ! Oh well.... :( Thank you though for answering my questions. :)
