The listing, 1918 Bell Telephone Pole marker has ended.

very cool tin telephone pole marker. Has a serial number but can't quite make it out under the paint. The serial number usually identifies the state or area the pole is at.

GIN requests are welcome. PM me an offer

**MOST small items i.e. coins, cards etc go out in a first class envelope with backerboard protection. No delivery confirmation. Bubble mailers are used at my discretion for more fragile items. I haven't had any trouble shipping this way.

I definitely do NOT think you are trying to mislead anyone. LOL I've been talking to various ppl for the last half hour, just out of curiosity. We are about 98% sure that this IS in fact a pole marker. The serial number data is most likely NOT just a crazy coincidence. :) I think you were right all along. Looks like you did your research well. :) Good luck with your auction. Very cool. You've inspired me to start using this site in search of cool antiques :) I'm going to "fan" you or whatever LOLOL

HOWEVER, although, I don't have a pic I can share without first obtaining permission, there ARE old Bell TELEPHONE POLE markers in this shape/size as well. I can't be sure what you've got in this auction without seeing firsthand, but the telephone pole marker CANNOT be ruled out. I work at the US Patent and Trademark office and from what I can tell you in USPTO records, let's just say some VERY similar templates/images were shared among multiple states/purposes/people etc with and without permission. So, to the owner of the auction, this very well MAY be a phone pole marker. License plate guy, your input is correct but without determining the item's composite makeup etc, one cannot be SURE that the owner of this item is incorrect either. Dear old dad may be remembering clearly after all. :)

thanks very much for the info. Like I said in my updates, my intention was NEVER to mislead anyone. I found a couple pics of this type of plate associated with telephone poles and asked mom and dad about it. I've had it for about 35 years or so in a cigar box of small antiques. Dad said he clearly remembers getting it and moms friend of 50+ years did check the serial in his old books. I just would hate for anyone to think I was being misleading about it. Thanks again for your input though. I do appreciate it!

I shared this listing on Facebook, and a friend of mine who collects antique license plates informed me that this is actually a part of a 1918 California license plate--you can google "1918 California license plate" and see it...which to me is even cooler than a tag off a phone pole!! And..I'm in it to win it!! :D

ya know that's bizarre. mom worked for AT&T for 40 years and her friend looked up the serial in his old books. It's an odd coincidence cause dad grew up in Jefferson City.. My dad swears he stole this off of a pole when he was a kid. maybe the pole was here in cali instead and somebody nailed it to it.? He is an old guy. ;) Sorry for any misrepresentation. I was going by the info supplied by my parents. Glad yer still happy with it.
