do the strings clip close?( will it stay closed) is it new?

It is not new, I have used it maybe 5 or so times but only put clothes in, no hard edge books or heavy objects. It closes really well, I would say you need to use both hands to open it easily or struggle really hard with just one hand. The material around the strings that hold it closed is not frayed or coming away from the bag in any way.
