STUNNING vintage Victorian cameo pendant!!! It does have a dirt mark on it, but I'm certain it will just wipe right off as soon as you take it off of the taped card that it's on. I just wanted to leave it exactly as it was when I purchased it at the estate sale :)

Measures 1 1/8" W. x 1½" H.

I *almost* ALWAYS offer free shipping and I *DO* ALWAYS provide a tracking number with each winning auction! For auctions that require shipping fees, I *DO* accept Paypal!

There will be no bid retractions except those where the item is found to have not been what was originally thought (i.e. the item is actually broken, lost, damaged, etc.). Please do not ask me to lower the days - I am fair to one and fair to all.

I AM, however, willing to negotiate a GIN option if there have been no previous bids placed on an item! :D Even if there is already a GIN set in place - if there are no bids, i WILL consider other GIN offers but please ONLY make an offer if you are GENUINELY interested.

I have this same cameo from the 1940's given to me by my dear friend who was a japan war bride her husband bought it for her when she was in Japan and he was there serving in the war, she was a war bride!She never had children and passed this gem along to me.she is 87 yrs old.Mine is heavy and carved from shell and simply so pretty I only wear it on special occasions.If this is the same the winner will be in for a treat!I would never sell mine.

This is a wonderful auction! My daughter collects cameos and I would love to get it for her! You were right to block the rude person - I hate it when people act so mean and try to make you seem stupid! I love the comments by fellow-Listuan Mary Weerth - she was so helpful and kind - the kind of Listian we all (hopefully strive to be like. I have 'met' a lot more people like her than the rude kind, thank goodness! Fanned and watching for now - will bid a little later.

Puggystyle you should get it looked at you maybe in for a shock I had mine appraised and Im not going say what its value is, but I was amazed and decided never to sell it , I will pass it down to my grandaughter when she is old enough ! hope you get alot for it, good luck!

If there is a distinct line, then the face would have been carved separately and attached to the base.

One more thing to check. Does the 'face' appear to be a separate piece from the base, or does it appear to have been carved directly from the same material? If it is a single piece of material, then there will be a 'fuzzy' edge between the face and the base.

1. Is the frame metal?
2. is the cameo material cold to the touch or room temperature?
Touch it to your lips if you have difficulty determining with your fingers
3. Does it seem heavy or light for its size?
4. > If it seems light for its size, try to gently run it against your teeth. If it is shell it will feel a bit grainy and not cold to the touch
SOME stones are lightweight and somewhat grainy, but generally cold to the touch.
MOST stones that are used for carving is not grainy, and usually heavy, usually cold to the touch.
If it seems heavy for its weight, smooth, and not cold, it is likely glass.
Plastic (not always cheap) is usually not cold to the touch and light for its size.
It is most difficult to tell the difference between shell and good quality plastic.

3. It's somewhat heavy....heavier than I would've thought it to be.
4. It does feel a bit grainy against my teeth.

Hi, I would like to know the material that this cameo is carved from. I collect cameos and having most carved from shell material, I also have a few carved from stones. There are also the molded glass ones that are pretty but not made in the traditional cameo way. I am actually hoping to find one made of paste (glass) that are very hard to find. Thank you.
So I guess I am asking if this is made of shell, stone, glass, or another material?
