I have one of these and you can plug it into any external device (off brand mp3 player, portable CD player, etc.) as long as it has the 3.5 mm input/output jack for earbuds. It's best to adjust your external device's volume at low or medium and turn up the volume on the car stereo for the best sound. If you search YouTube using the words "cassette player adapter" there are films on how to use it. I am using one in my Miata and am very satisfied.

I believe any kind of music playing device that has a headphone port. It's basically and AUX cord
