Unused vintage postcard collected aboard this aircraft when it was brand new!! Part of my childhood postcard collection. In great shape with a bit of wear at the corners and some aging.Entering passenger service on September 18, 1959 with Delta Air Lines and United Air Lines, the four engine Douglas DC-8 fan jet was Douglas Aircraft's answer to the Boeing 707 fan jet that basically heralded the advent of America's Jet Age one year earlier.
Back reads: Delta's modern jet fleet includes the Douglas DC-8 Fanjet. Carries 133 passengers deluxe and jettourist ... it is quieter, takes off and climbs faster and greater reserve of power. Delta one of America's pioneer scheduled airlines. Form 0412-70261
