Description

The listing, 25+ Seeds, Dragon Fruit Cactus with Exotic Flowers (Easy Grow) Hylocereus Pitaya has ended.

*If this reaches 100 watchers, I will include a variety of different seeds that I have. Please help me earn my badge & you will be rewarded with a whole bunch of surprise seeds for this years growing season.

(PLEASE WATCH & COMMENT)

Winning bidder will receive at least 25 Dragon Fruit/Pitaya/Hylocereus seeds (or more).

Extra seeds will be included as the bids increase.

These are a very fast growing, self-pollinating red fruit variety. Great tasting for deserts, smoothies & more.

-

These fruits are commonly known as "dragon fruit".

The vine-like epiphytic pitahaya-producing cacti of the genus Hylocereus are native to Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Hylocereus blooms only at night; the large white fragrant flowers of the typical cactus flower shape are among those called "moonflower" or "Queen of the Night". Sweet pitahayas have a creamy pulp and a delicate aroma. It is also grown as an Ornamental plant, used in gardens as a flowering vine and a house plant indoors.

After thorough cleaning of the seeds from the pulp of the fruit, the seeds may be stored when dried. Ideally, the fruit must be unblemished and overripe. Seeds grow well in a compost or potting soil mix - even as a potted indoor plant. Pitahaya cacti usually germinate between 11 and 14 days after shallow planting. As they are cacti, overwatering is a concern for home growers. As their growth continues, these climbing plants will find something to climb on, which can involve putting aerial roots down from the branches in addition to the basal roots.

Hylocereus has adapted to live in dry tropical climates with a moderate amount of rain. The dragon fruit sets on the cactus-like trees 30–50 days after flowering and can sometimes have 5-6 cycles of harvests per year. There are some farms in Vietnam that produce 30 tons of fruit per hectare every year.

I live in Tampa, and from what I've read in your descriptions (ALOT of comments and descriptions, WHEW!) lol... they should do quite well in Tampa... BUT during tropical storm season I'll probably have to cover them up 'cause I'd like to plant them outside in full sun.... Folks here are known to cover up plants during storms and freeze... Our Florida strawberry and orange growers send you folks up north/east/mid/and west the best U.S. grown strawberries and oranges in the world! <patting their backs> LOL... thanks for putting this up! :)

Awesome auction. Love the bit about the crocodile dung. F & W Can you watch my Reader's Digest book? I am trying to get 60 watcher's. I don't have enough credits for this auction (I spend them as fast as I make them!) but I'll be checking out your smaller auctions. Random thought. The best way to freeze raw eggs is to crack them into an ice cube tray, freeze, remove into a gallon size freezer bag and take out one at a time as needed. Great for after Easter when some stores are trying to get rid of any leftovers and you can get them on sale.

What kind of soil would you use if planting inside as a house plant. Really good auction. Already a fan, but watching.

I was kind enough to warn you that the seeds your selling need to be "self-pollinating" or they WILL NOT produce fruit... and then you block me and continue taking advantage of people bidding on your seeds??? You told me that you "don't know anything about them", "got them from a fruit" you ate and are "just now trying to sprout some".

Your not a very nice (or honest) person... That's sad.

Well, best of luck to you anyways.

I hope you develop a conscience one day.

To be fair, I am blocking you back... I don't want a bunch of one sided comments from you.

(and to answer your question, Most, the others are examples of the various varieties included in this auction)
