Description
The listing, Wade & Butcher Sheffield Shaving Razon has ended.
Wade & Butcher Sheffield Shaving Razor is plainly marked with arrow and cross, Hollow Ground and in good used condition. The receiver is wood or shell, not celluloid. It has a “grain” to it and in worn areas is much lighter in color. All pieces are intact and secure with no cracks or nicks, just surface scratches from use. It still displays a dangerous edge and has been stored in a controlled climate out of sunlight for at least the past 40 years that it has been in my possession. Measurements: closed- approx. 6 ¼”, open 9 5/8” long x widest part of handle and blade - ¾”.

I honestly don't know if it could be used for shaving. It easily removed a few "arm hairs", but has not been used for shaving for decades as it has been stored since the family barber passed on in the 1950's. I'm not selling it for its shaving capabilities, but its historical and collectible appeal.
Looking at the blade closely, it appears to have been over honed near the tang (part closest to the scales). I was wondering if the blade edge is straight or if there is a wave to it.
The sharpened edbe of the blade does have curvature to it which I attribute to repeated sharpening. I'm not familiar with the terms you use to describe what appears an alteration to your eye. I can tell you this was used daily at a barber shop run by a relative in the early part of the 1900s. It shows signs of use if that is waht you're getting at. It has been untouched, uncleaned, and unaltered, in storage for decades. Hope that addresses your concern. Thanks for your interest.
