I purchased this to add to my existing phones, but it would not add the phones, so my loss is your gain!
This box contains the master phone and one extra.

I'm thinking the same thing, they wouldn't add since it has a master one too. Maybe check online for extras of the same type made for yours? Do you still have a receipt for warranty purposes? And the most important question of all: The box doesn't say as usual when I look but can the phone ringers be shut off completely so the spare doesn't ring in a bedroom? Thanks!

I have never turned off a ringer, but if it can be, it should be done through the menu. I don't have the receipt any more, I purchased it quite a while ago. however, all paperwork that came with it will still be in the box.
