I have researched this item and have only been able to find one other and it stated that it is hand carved from Kenya. It may be a trinket sold for tourists or made as tribal folk art. There are no scratches on this item. The wood is very smooth and the facial expression is quite mesmerizing..Please fan if you like. FREE SHIPPING
