A Miche shell is the outer covering that goes on a base bag and is held on by very strong magnets... U purchase the base sepparately and then you can change the outside and have a different purse each time you do. We love Miche in my house.! You never forget something in the "other" purse again. A woman bidding on my Kalli shell sells the bases and shells-her screen name is quiver if you are interested, or just want to here more!
