yes. they do well when planted in the ground as long as they are acclimated first. start them in pots in a semi shaded area and gradually move them to full sun if that's where they'll be, then you can plant them in the ground. they will grow up to 3 ft when planted that way and the babies will start when the plant matures. they prefer a moist soil and can tolerate temps down to about 40 degrees so if it gets cold there I would bring them in and winter them in pots. the ideal temp for them is around 90 degrees so if it gets hotter than that I would plant them in part shade to keep them from burning, I hope this information is helpful. thank you :)
