You can hand wash it in Dawn liquid detergent by letting it soak in the water and gently squeeze it, rinse it the same way then allow to dry on a screen. can be combed with carders which are like a cat brush.

How would you clean the fur?

I just brushed it w/a cat brush-it's not filthy at all-just has little twigs/leaves in it. You could probably type in how to clean Alpaca fur & find out more info.
