They are only good for kids - ages 12 and under. There are four different coupons - apple slices, ice cream scone, hamburger or juice/milk. You bring your kid (or grandchild) to McDonald's with the coupon (1 coupon per visit) and he gets the free item. If you have multiple kids, each one of them can redeem 1 coupon at a time =)

nice ... 1 can get burger and another can get apples and they both can split and have mini meals =)) ... but you will get 4 of each kind, so there is no need to split or share =)
