The listing, Cannas - Live Tubers (Bulbs) Blooms in 6-8 wks. has ended.
Up for auction is one fresh healthy canna tuber. (bulb)
(Good luck buying seeds. Most canna seeds are not viable, but they do make nice beads.)
These are an old fashioned variety my mother started growing over 30 years ago.
They reach 7-10 ft. tall once established and multiply vigorously.
We grew them in Michigan, but the tubers had to be dug up, saved properly, and replanted every year.
They are perennials in warmer climates.
They tolerate brief freezes, but if the ground freezes solid they are done for.
If your freezes are a bit longer than brief, (maybe zones 7-8) try covering them with a deep mound of mulch or straw during Winter to protect them.
These have not been exposed to any of the new canna viruses. If you have had bad luck with cannas you've bought in the past few years, you probably bought sick plants. Almost any canna you buy in a retail store or nursery today will be infected and die in a few months, but not before infecting any other cannas you and your neighbors might have.
If you have had sick cannas, be sure to sterilize or replace any garden tools that will come in contact with these. Don't even plant in the same spot for a few years.
I will wait until the auction closes to dig them up to ensure absolute freshness.
If it's still too early to plant in your zone, they can be stored in your refrigerator's crisper drawer for several weeks.
If you want more than one, send me a message & tell me how many and I will set up an auction for you.
