When the magnet doesn't stick, it "COULD" mean it's silver....COULD Is the optimum word here (Not Definite) It is definitely NOT zinc or nickel which would stick to it with a magnet...from my understanding, though other listians can correct me if i'm wrong...
Based on it's approximate age, coloring, and style, my guess is that it is in fact silver...again only my guess...since many items from the early 1900's do not have the markings .925/.999 it is likely this is the real deal... Additionally the coloring suggests it was kept in a box or other dark place for the last 100 years or so....
Silver was very popular back in the day, as it was cheap to mine, process, purchase, and was far more readily available than it is today....
Again these are only my opinions, anyone else with any thoughts on this?
Either way it is a very nice item....You should do well on this one especially with free shipping!!! Thanks for the response earlier!!!
I should have had some education on old jewelry as I have a listing with about 65 pieces and most of it is very old and was found in the old jewelry box with this.I'm ok with it though as I'm not interested in jewelry especially old stuff. To me it's just junk.
Alphastorm,I have a wedding band set.It is not old.I was married for 2 months to an abusive guy,so anyhow,I know the set is not a real good set as it cost less than $300.So, with not much info or knowledge on my part,I'm not sure how to list.Is there any way you can help me?I have a very poor memory due to several light strokes which have damaged my memory part of my brain. That's why I can't give much info on a lot of the jewelry and the fact that I'm not not interested in jewelry. With all I have i must have at one time loved it though.LOL.Oh well,it's not gonna make a difference in my life as the jewelry is just things.
Alpha: I completely agree with your thought process on the potential of it being sterling, but the setting screams 40-50's to me which would lower the possibility of it being sterling, but doesn't rule it out by any means. certainly a "cool" piece. I will be bidding as well.
