Just a heads up. Listia has updated their rules page and animal furs are on the list of non approved items. Technically not a fur but you may just wanna take it down just in case.

This is lovely and would be amazing framed and mounted-worth the cost! I think you're O.K. as to the feathersbut the trip up could be the tortise shell. It has to be over a certain age in order for it to legal to own and trade.It's a federal law and granted I'm not an expert on it but you might want to check it out.I do know that even possessing a bald Eagle feather is up to a 10 grand fine and there have been tortise pieces confiscated thru customs.I'd think that the site would be up on these sorts of things-maybe they would know. Thank you, it really is beautiful, but I can't afford to mount and frame it, and that is what it needs. The fines are high to keep the animals safe, and I DO realize that, but, I got it 40 years ago, and it was old then, so it's before the bans. They told me I could re-list it, if I wanted to have the eBay Lawyers calling me......I figured eBays loss, Listia's gain!

Beautiful wish I would have seen it before I spent some credits on something else. Don't have enough to bid. As far as listia's prohibited items, there are sometimes exceptions. I have authentic vintage tobacco pipes listed and someone left a comment saying they were not allowed, but I believe they are based on the "collectible memorabilia" exception, under prohibited items. No one has flagged the auction yet. There are stiff laws in place about things like tortoise shell and ivory now which is why ebay hassled you about it. I wouldn't touch selling things like that for cash with a ten foot pole unless I had documented proof that they were antique or vintage, at least not to my knowledge anyway. There can be fines up to 10,000 for selling ivory that is not proven to be antique or vintage. In fact I just recently sold a cigarette holder that could have been Ivory, the guy who bought it thought it was, I had no idea what it was made out of, and didn't even buy it. It came in a pen holder with a bunch of pens my mom bought at a yard sale. I think it was more likely bone, but whatever. I also think Listia goes overboard with the prohibited items sometimes they are terrified of being sued or offending someone. Why can't furs be listed now? Because people get offended by them, and animals rights fanatics pitch fit? There are legit uses for fur coats. Some places get damn cold enough to wear them. I am against animal cruelty but man has been using animal fur and skin since the dawn of time to keep warm, and to me that is not animal cruelty, especially if it is a vintage or antique fur. It was made many years ago and the animal is long since dead. Just my 2 cents worth.
