Description

The listing, ~*~*BEDSPREADS~*~*CROCHET PATTERNS~*CIRCA 1948! ~*~* has ended.

This is a BEDSREAD crochet patterns booklet that originally cost only TEN CENTS and is circa 1948! It is in pretty good condition for it's age and is Book No. 244 (on the cover), printed for the Spool Cotton Co.--Distributors of J & P Coats--Chadwick's Red Heart--Crown Zippers. Once again, "Janet Lappas" is written in small handwriting in blue ink on the front and a small sticker with the price of $1.00 is affixed to the cover too. Talk about inflation! It has one small tear on its spine (I have not taped it as collectors frown on that) and has 15 pages. Inside are really beautiful crochet patterns for bedspreads "Waltz Time No. 6017", "Maid Of Honor No. 6135", "Prophesy No. 6074", "Reverie No. 6038", "Coat Of Arms No. 6125", Marguerite No. 6132", "rambling Rose No. 6128, "Cable Tread No. 9450-"--a small rug, ""Pomander Walk No. 650", and last but not least, "Starbright No. 6122" for a total of 8 bedspread patterns and 1 small rug. patterns! This would also look great framed and hanging on the walls of a craft shop or your sewing room as it is collectible ephemera too. Actually, I would LOVE to have one of these bedsreads---they are just beautiful! Happy bidding everyone!

Great Book!! I'm a lifelong maker and collector and you'd be shocked by just how much inflation there can be from cover to current prices! I personally prefer my treasures to show a bit of wear and use-I feel like it pays respect to the life it has led and I use the patterns anyway. Some of my favorites have notes in the margins from previous ladies and they generally turn out to be right! F&W!!

your comment is so beautiful! my mother could do all this crochet work--doilies, edgings on pillow cases, etc. etc.and I consider it to be an art form---none of the patterns I listed were from her but I just love anything vintage--and aren't these pamphlets more interesting than the "online" versions?! LOL--I probably will get feedback from that comment but oh well....fanned you back!

You'll only get positive feedback from me- I am not a fan of the online pattern books although I do have a lot of them. I'm too old school and just adore the look and feel of the "real deal" patterns.I have close to 500 of them if you count the 15 yrs. of workbasket. Then there's another box of assorted books I need to count and organize that's at least 75 more. I swear I'm a phone call and knock at the door away from an episode of Hoarders! My treasures make me happy......

I have all of my grandmother's workbaskets and just got two years worth off Listia that I lacked and am axiously awaiting their arrival. Just love the older, vintage books. I have a local second hand shop that I frequent just for vintage patterns and can often pick them up for just a couple dollars. My hubby complains about my hobby but, there could be worse - lol!!! Getting ready to open a craft store - I will display some of my books but they will not be for sale.

oh that is awesome lorililey75! I know what you mean about finding those patterns--I used to find a lot of them years ago here in California but now they are much harder to find for some reason---and they aren't cheap like they used to be! LOL now you would have to find them in the "boonies" or someplace else you would never think to look---hint! a recycling center! best of luck to you and your craft store!
