Description

The listing, Loquat seeds has ended.

8 Loquat seeds up for auction. These came from the tree in my front yard. This tree is amazing! In the 5 years we have lived here, it has almost tripled in size and produces TONS of juicy Loquats (also known as Japanese Plums). The neighborhood kids all like to stop by and grab a handful and still the tree produces more than we can use. The loquats are very sweet when picked ripe (bright orange and alittle softer) and make a great tart. Any questions, feel free to ask & Happy bidding!

So I googled it and can't seem to find any concrete answer on what zones they are hardy in but I did get a couple good anecdotal answers for you. LOL. They are one of the only fruit trees to fruit early in the year, flowering in winter. They seem to tolerate any zone that is not too cold although the fruit production apparently drops if it gets too cold. I live in north florida which I believe is zone 9 and the tree is great here. Our winter weather doesn't usually get lower temperatures than around 30-40 degrees. Hope this helps :)

From what I found, it seems to thrive in most areas but tends to produce less fruit in cold climates. But it grows fast and is gorgeous even without the fruit.

Would it do well in a container?

not sure. Mine is in the yard and has gotten HUGE so probably does better in a yard but I'm sure it could be done in a large enough container.

BAHAHA! He LOVES that shirt! He has had it since he was about 7 yrs old, got it as a gift from his dad, and actually wore it to his first Alice concert ever. I'm sure it will end up in a picture frame eventually to keep for posterity.
