This is a stunning lab created color change alexandrite. It is actually just a little over 3 cts. The pics DO NOT do this stone justice! Sorry about that. The first two pics are of the stone when I purchased it, the others are with my phone camera. The last pic is what it would look like in a setting. Hope this helps to visualize it better.

A "real" alexandrite that is in very good condition can sell upwards of $1,000 a ct.

A little history...
Discovered in Russia in 1830, Alexandrite was named in honor of Czar Alexander II at his coming of age celebration.

Yea... strange... Alex is basically purple, and then has the teal flashes. Makes no difference between night and day... its just whatever light hits it. I sold genuine and lab alex's in the past, and none of them had that red that you are showing. Purple and teal... thats what an Alexandrite is.

Yeah, it is sort of a purple color. I had an alexandrite ring when I was a kid and I"m NOT tellin ya how long ago that was! *grin* The colors I remember where a raspberry when I was out playing and the bluish/green/teal in the house. The stone I had was russian in origin. Nowadays they come from Brazil, Sri Lanka and other places I believe. This is in no way shape or form a "real" alex. Just a VERY nice lab created version. I got the info off a gemstone site and as far as I know fro practical experience seeing a "real" gem many moons ago that is how it is. The bluer of the 2 pics (mine was taken indoors) the pinker/more raspberry was taken by a window but still indoors. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by. God bless

This is my birthstone and depending on the Alexandrite, it can change from blue to green, or peach to purple. I have sold some lab Alex's here and they do very well. BTW is this one oval or round? The first 2 pics look oval but the 3 and 4th look round. Thank you!

Fannd and watching..Very beautiful..but I'm Confused..( nothing New..lol ) Are any of these the real pictures of the stone you have? All the pictures I see it is round..including the stock photo of it in a ring..so where is the Oval one? Want to Bid but need more info..I own a real Alexanderite ..had it for over 35yrs. Mine turns color from Reds to beautiful Purple and violet colors..It as Papers..Your Photos are Awesome..but which ones are the Actual Stone we would be receiving ?? Thank you..waiting to bid..:)

Hi Carolyn. Don't feel poorly cuz I have the same problem. heheh The "real" pics are the 3rd and the 4th ones. The first 2 were on the site where I got the stones originally. The last is a composite I did for myself in paint ship pro. And lastly the stone is ROUND, not oval. For a lab created stone it really is very pretty. I too had an alexandrite when I was a kid but lost it as a teen. Now, I really can't afford the russian alexes so have to settle for a good copy of them. Hope this helps "un"confuse you.
