I had a 7 yr old golden fig in a barrel planter and had to leave it 6 years ago. Miss it and the figs.

It is sad, to have to leave such wonderful plants behind. I thought i was moving to Michigan, and well...the thought of leaving all my plants behind again, just was not a good thought. In short...i am staying here, and not moving after all.

Although I'm already bidding, just wondering, is it a Turkey fig, or another type?

Yes, i am sorry. I did forget to add that in. It is a turkey fig. Very easy to grow, and the figs are delicious.

I grew up picking figs at both of my grandmother's homes in La. They're gone and the properties have been sold.......I cry every time I think of it. It's one of my fondest memories.

how long before they produce fruit?

These would be considered to be almost one year plants, so you may get a few off of a tree this year. I am hoping mine puts on some figs this year, and i just planted it last year also. Also, may i add, that in this area, figs are going for between 6.00 and 10.00 a gallon for the fruit.

I love figs! Also, one of my fondest memories when I was little. My grandparents made homemade fig preserves..MMMM What I would give to have my Grandmother still here singing in the kitchen. Toast bread and fig preserves...yumm
