Great Gustaf and Dora were the names of two German 800 mm Krupp ultra-heavy railway guns. They were the largest-caliber rifled weapon ever used in combat, and fired the heaviest shells of any artillery piece. They weighed 1,490 tons (3 million pounds) with a barrel length of 32.5 meters (106ft 8in)
They required a crew of 250 to assemble the gun in 3 days (54 hours), 2,500 to lay track and dig embankments. 2 Flak battalions to protect the gun from air attack.

After 1945, the use of the term Heldengedenktag was abandoned because of its close association with the Nazi government.
Grossdeutches Reich (Greater German Empire) replaced Deutches Reich in 1944 only to be used for one year till the end of the Third Reich.
