Description

The listing, 1960 MS66 GRADED & ERROR Slabbed Jefferson Nickel has ended.

Here is a 1960 Slabbed and Graded MS-66 Jefferson Nickel. The coin itself still retains some of it's original mint luster and is in great shape! This is a great addition to any Jefferson collection, or as a perfect introduction into the slabbed and graded genre!

Where's the error.. ??

Well.. The coin itself is a Philadelphia minted.. without a mint mark on the reverse, in the field between the rim and Monticello, where it is found on nickels from 1938-1964. It wasn't until 1965 the mint mark was moved to obverse side, under the date! The original grading company enclosed this coin in a sealed, un-tampered with slab, but labeled it as a Denver Mint.

This is a cool, one of a kind addition to any collection. Although the grading company is not one of the Big 3 (maybe 4) this is still a very unique piece. If you like error coins, this is a great step into a whole new realm! If you don't have any error pieces, what a great sample to begin with..! This is a great conversation within any growing collection!

Will ship to Listia verified addresses only, so please verify before placing a bid, for quick *FREE* Shipping in a *tracked* USPS package!

Happy Bidding!

Why is the coin sideways in the holder?

And is the error itself on the coin or did the grading company make the error??

the grading company made the error... the coin is mint. the slab is sealed and untampered. the coin was sideways when I got it. so I cannot vouch for that.. I add error slabs to my collection when I find them.. as it adds to the rarity... just decided to pass this one on, and offer someting unique. thanks for looking..!

Good Luck..! Just remember.. the error is not in the coin.. it's in the slab from the grading company.. which happens very rarely.. making it even more collectible and one of a kind!

To everyone looking:
I clearly stated in numerous places this is not an error coin.. but an error slabbed coin..

by saying
"without a mint mark on the reverse"..
I was simply backing up the fact it is a Philadelphia minted. NOT claiming the mint mark was missing in an error..
the error slab is the fact a Philadelphia coin was slabbed and graded as Denver mint.

You don't buy a slab, you buy a coin.. but in this case. the slab has more collectible value to it. being more unique then the coin will ever be.. so.. by winning with. technically your getting two collectible pieces.. the coin and the error slab..!
good luck.!
