The listing, Dell Inspiron 1000 Laptop, Like New has ended.

This laptop is used, but you can not tell. It dose not have any scratches on it, no marks on the screen, no noticeable wear on the keyboard or touch pad, it looks like new. Not even any dust on the cooling fan or heatsink.

BIOS screen should show most of the specks, but to summarize:

2.2GHz Intel CPU
512MB Ram (Upgradeable)
40GB HDD (Upgradeable)
15" screen
PCMCIA slot
CDRW/DVD-ROM
56K Modem
10/100 LAN
Wireless B/G PCMCIA card (Dell card matched to the computer)

It comes with the power adapter. The battery is the higher end 65W one. Battery seems to be good. I did not check how long it last with the battery only, but I did have it running with the battery for over 45 minutes on it just fine and it still showed a substantial charge left.

It dose have some aftermarket stand offs you can see in the photos of the bottom of the PC to keep it high enough to let air under it for cooling. It originally came with Windows XP, but I currently have MacPup (A small version of Linux) on it that I used for some testing since it is much smaller and faster than Windows. Winner can choose to leave MacPup on, or if they wish I will re install Windows XP. Both work fine on the laptop, but MacPup is a lot faster. If you want I will include both on CD so you can change back and forth on your own and decide what one you like better. On older computers like this I usually stick with MacPup due to its speed, and the availability of freeware that will do anything you want, and the easy availability of it. Software for Windows gets prohibitively expensive, and invariably slows a older computer like this down so much they are not a lot of fun to play on.

It may not be the fastest thing out there, but I don't think you will find a nicer one that is not new in the box. This one really is cherry.

what would the shipping be to 27332? I'm looking for an old OS for my embroidery machine....but the MacPup would be awesome to have too. It'd be awesome if you included both on a cd.

I can't give an exact price until I have it all boxed up for shipping. BUT the last laptop I sent out cost almost $24.00 with insurance for $400.00. I would expect that depending on your location it would be $18.00-$25.00.

Just for reference I sold a laptop almost exactly this one and was able to ship it in a flat rate medium sized box priority mail for around 16.00 with tracking and insurance. With the flat rate it is the same no matter where you send it.

Does it come with Windows XP Product Key? and Not a Copy but a Retail CD of XP?

I can only provide a copy of the CD from an image file since the original CD was not provided to us with the laptop. The product KEY is on the bottom of the laptop on the Microsoft OEM sticker and is the original key that it came with.

It is small enough I can probably fit it in a medium flat rate box. My worry is that the padding I can fit in there with it would not be adequate enough and that it would be easily damaged in transit. We usually ship with a lot of padding to prevent this, but it dose cost more. If you win I would leave it up to you. From the photos you can see it works fine. I just don't want some one to look forward to a like new laptop only to get a boat anchor that looks like it had a baseball bat taken to it.

Depending on where it may cost nothing. Because of our businesses we have to do plenty of running around to pick up or drop off our products and supplies. So if you are in the Fox Valley aria or down in Milwaukee we can probably just have some one swing by where ever you want it to go.
