A popular nutritious cool weather vegetable producing long crisp stalks. Delicious raw or in salads, soups and stews. Approximately 120 days to maturity from transplant.


Special Directions For Short Season Climates

SOWING: Start seed indoors or in the greenhouse in early spring. Can also be sown directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil.

SPACING AND THINNING: Space rows 2 feet apart. Leave about 12 inches between seedlings.

TRANSPLANTING: Transplant indoor started seedlings outdoors after danger of frost has passed.

GERMINATION: 2 to 3 weeks depending upon soil and weather conditions. Keep seedbed moderately moist during germination.


Celery grows best in deep, rich, moist well drained soil. Keep well watered especially during hot weather and fertilize monthly. Outer stalks can be harvested as plant matures. Celery is rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber.

You mentioned cool weather, so this wouldn't grow in Houston's sweltering heat? We were hoping to grow celery since we eat so much of it.

sorry I replied your message on my auction page and not from the inbox so I don't know if you get my answer or not. Anyhow, you can plant this mid to late summer for fall crop. Thank you for asking.

Not sure if it would work if u plant it in a shady part of the house. or u can plant them late summer for fall crop.
