HAWTHORN:
Hawthorn trees is part of the genus Crataegus, which means "hardness" in Latin, and Hawthorn is definitely hardy. The tree can live up to 400 years and does well in a variety of soil types. In addition to its durability, the tree is also coveted by homeowners because it doesn't get much taller than 30 feet, making it easier to prune and maintain & is often used as a hedge or natural border planted near driveways, sidewalks and property lines. They grow throughout North America, and thrive in most conditions, including some snow, and in most soils, including alkaline. Full or partial sun

CATALPA:
Large, showy white, trumpet-shaped flowers grace the Catalpa in late spring. It has large, exotic-looking heart-shaped leaves. Withstands wet, dry, alkaline soils and hot, dry environments, but prefers moist, deep soil. Sun or partial shade. Grows to 40'-60' with a 20'-40' spread.

CRAPE MYRTLE:
The Crepe (or Crape) Myrtle originated in China but is now cultivated widely throughout the world. Myrtles may be left untrimmed and used as large shrubs, and are beautiful in that form, or pruned to grow as small trees. Their long bloom season is one reason for their attraction. In some climates they will bloom for almost six months. A Crepe Myrtle can tolerate fairly arid conditions and a wide variety of temperatures. Prune back in the fall to ensure that it keeps its tree shape once it starts to leaf out in the spring.
