The listing, Black Tomato (Paul Robeson) Heirloom has ended.
Package of 15 seeds.
This famous tomato has almost a cult following among seed collectors and tomato connoisseurs. They simply cannot get enough of this variety’s amazing flavor that is so distinctive, sweet and smokey. 7-10 oz. fruit are a black-brick color. Named in honor of the famous opera singer star of ‘King Solomon's Mines’, 1937. Paul Robeson was also a Russian and Equal Rights Advocate for Blacks. This Russian heirloom was lovingly named in his honor.
Just wanted to remind everybody, whether you've won seeds from me or not, that you can feel free to shoot me gardening questions if you have them. I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been in the garden since before I could walk (so I know my way around). Good luck and God bless.
In my experience the most critical factor in good tomatoes is watering times. Although I'm sure you can deviate, I find that you play with fire if you don't water your tomatoes at the same time every day. I have had situations where I came home from work and forgot to water, or I was lazy, or whatever. Irregular water throws the tomato in to a panic, and makes it shed it's fruit early to ensure a reproductive fulfillment. This is called blossom end rot, where the fruit rots on the vine from the inside out. To combat this I decided to invest in drip irrigation set on a timer this year.
