Description

The listing, 25 Native American Popcorn Lakota Tribe Heirloom has ended.

White popcorn. From the traditional treat grown for centuries by the native tribe in South Dakota. A natural treat you will enjoy. Since they didn't have microwaces back then they had had ceramic pots aqnd covers made of clay and fired at their camp fires. They put the corn seeds into the pot and set it beside the fire which popped the corn. It was a treat as well as a basic food source. You can use this corn in any kind of popper you prefer. To make in the microwave I buy those small brown paper bags they sell for lunch bags. Put enough corn in it for a single serving and fold the top and clip with one of those flat plastic things they use on bread bags. (Don't use a twisty as they have wire in them.) Put in the microwave. Add salt and butter after it is done if you wish. Plain is healthier. Throw away the empty bag and no dishes to wash. YIou can also grind this corn for corn meal great for baking. Just use and recipe to make muffins or bread and substitute natural corn meal tor the chemical laden stuff that is factory made. If you plant these in your back yard garden and each seed grows one stalk and each stalk has 2 or 3 ears of corn and each cob has 200 or more kernals and you take them off the cobs when hard and dry like the ones I am sending you You will have enough popcorn to eat all year. Just remember to save some of the seed to plant next year.

Me too. Next year I expect to have more variety. This year it was mostly beans. I am not doing flowers. Mostly edibles. We are having a cold spell and they say May 1st is when frost time is past. I don't know if it will be safe by then this year. Of course there is a week or so before the shoots come up. We are in the 30's at night and 40's in the day. Doen't sound like spring. nancy
