Is there any way water can slip in between and hurt the picture?

it can not be emerged in water it will eventually melt away, it does take a bit though for this to happen. i have had them sitting in a sink to on purpose melt them away to reuse the glass on something i did not like the way it turned out. i had to scrub a bit to get them off after an hour of soaking
