The listing, 1907 LIBERTY 'V' NICKEL--FREE SHIPPING has ended.

This is a 1907 Liberty 'V' Nickel which is the series preceding the Indian Head or Buffalo nickel. In 1883 the nickel design was changed from the "Shield" nickel (1866-1883) to the Liberty Head. Originally the coin was minted without the word "cents" on the reverse only the large "V" was shown. Some of the coins were gold plated and passed off as $5.00 gold pieces. Later that year the word "cents" was added.
