The listing, Certified 2010 $50 Gold Clad Buffalo Tribute Proof & 1937 Buffalo Head Nickel has ended.
Taking pictures of a coin that is clad in 24 KT pure gold is difficult for me. I cannot get rid of the various light reflections that change constantly, so please know that this $50 Buffalo Tribute Proof is FLAWLESS and minted at the National Collector's Mint.
In case there is any confusion about what "clad" actually means, it means "To sheathe or cover a metal with a metal." In this case 24 KT pure gold has been clad over bronze (see picture 3 for the Certificate of Authenticity).
Notice in picture 1 that the word "COPY" is stamped on the proof, which is the policy of this particular mint when making special tribute coins. The coin is encased in a sealed plastic case, which has never been opened (and I would recommend you not open it either, because very quickly it will be not quite as proof!)
Picture 2 shows the reverse of the proof, and again you can see that I couldn't get the full luster of the 24 KT gold clad.
Picture 3 shows the Certificate of Authenticity, and I apologize for it being a little wrinkled, but I have placed it inside a heavy book and piled several more heavy books on it to help smooth it out. By the time the auction is over, it should be far less wrinkled if not almost like new.
Picture 4 shows the 1937 Buffalo Head Nickel being auctioned, while providing a size comparison between the nickel and the proof.
Picture 5 shows the 1937 nickel, which grades very fine+ according to Red Book standards. I can't quite make the call for extra fine, but it is a high-grade buffalo head nickel.
Picture 6 shows the reverse of the nickel, and you can see that the horn is complete but slightly smooth, a rarely seen occurrence!
All Listia rules apply, and you must have a Listia-verified address in order for me to ship to you.
Shipping is free with tracking, and the nickel will be in a 2x2 stapled mylar.
Thank you for looking at my auction, & please look at my other auctions as well! Questions/comments are welcome.
