Questions & Comments
Just looked on Wikipedia-- the original printing was in 1945. This particular book is a later printing, but still, an early printing. Nice auction! :) I have not yet read this one, but I loved 1984...
The UK edition was 1945. The American First is 1946.
George Orwell encountered great difficulty getting this brilliant work into print. Four publishers refused to bring forth this fairy tale; one initially accepting but withdrew after consulting the Ministry of Information. Eventually the first edition (UK) was bravely produced by Secker and Warburg in 1945.

Foxing is the brown pigment that occurs on the pages when the book has been stored incorrectly or the pages are degrading with age. Thanks for your comment.
