I have for your consideration this tarnished silver ring. It has quite pretty side engraving with a dark sapphire center stone. I can not tell the color. This ring is new .

If this ring is new, why does the description state that it's tarnished? Does it just need to be cleaned?

Silver tarnishes! It has been in my sales display box for 8 to 10 years. Never worn! New! Real stone! It was sold to me as Silver. My old eyes can see no writing inside the band.

Thanks for the additional information. Silver does tarnish, but one would not expect a "new" piece of sterling silver to be tarnished, so the added detail was helpful. Thanks again.
