The listing, (2) Vintage Topps! 1966 HANK AGUIRRE & 1965 GEORGE SMITH rookie (Tigers) has ended.
Hank Aguirre started his career as a reliever. In 1962, he was given a job as a starting pitcher and complied by going 16-8 with a 2.21 ERA and an All-Star appearance. He pitched effectively for 16 MLB seasons, 10 of them with the Tigers. Legend has it that, as a rookie, Aguirre struck out Ted Williams and had Ted sign the ball for him. The next time he faced him, Williams hit his first pitch for a home run, and Ted shouted to Hank ""Get that ball, and I'll sign it, too."
George Smith debuted in 1963, playing over 50 games that season, but his first Topps card was not issued until 1965. He played 3 seasons with the Tigers and one with the Red Sox.
Both cards are in decent shape. The Smith does have a minor surface crease that runs on the black on the left of the flag ... you have to really be paying attention to notice it. Check out the pictures.
