The listing, US Military Pogs used in Iraq and Afghanistan has ended.
These pogs were used as change to replace coins due to the weight issues. Even though they were used overseas, they are still redeemable at all AAFES stores. The front has a picture of military life that moves and changes as you turn them, super cool. They are made of light platic and very durable.7 of the 8 have different pictures and all are in new condition. Check them out.
Military uses
AAFES pogs are double sided and thin. One side has the gift certificate value while the other has a scene from military life.
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the United States Department of Defense's largest and oldest exchange system, distributes pog-like coinage as change at its stores in contingency areas (those supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom).[17] The reason for adopting pogs as currency was that supply flights overseas had limited capacity and air-freight shipping involved high costs.[2] Metal coinage weighs significantly more than plastic pogs, which are also much thinner than standard pogs. While they are only issued in contingency areas, they are redeemable at any AAFES store worldwide.[17]
