14 karat (14kt) gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts another metal or alloys, making it 58.3% gold. The main purpose of the alloy is to make the jewelry harder and more durable. . Unfortunately I do not know the base alloy of this piece. It is advised to take off your jewelry before washing or bathing. Clean it gently with soft cloth or an appropriate jewelry cleaner, this could help to eliminate any dirt or dust and make it last for years.

So is this 14KT gold or just plated with 14kt? I ask because I have never heard of anyone having to remove solid 14k jewelry before washing to preserve it. And the stamp looks different than the 14kt jewelry I have. I don't mean to offend, I just really want to know before I bid.
